How to Ace your Medical Sales Interviews

“Jebb…You are rambling.”
Meaning, I was forgettable.
Not exactly what you want to hear.
That was the feedback a hiring manager gave me early in my career.
At the time, I had a good job at Sprint PCS.
Stable income.
Solid career path.
Good team.
But I wanted more.
I wanted to work in healthcare.
I wanted the lifestyle Medical Sales offered.
And wanted to see if I could compete with the best.
So I started applying.
And I kept getting rejected.
Thought I was doing everything right.
Talked about my experience.
Answered every question.
But that was the problem:
⇢ I was over-explaining.
⇢ Sounded rehearsed.
⇢ No takeaway.
About 12 months into my job search,
A hiring manager told me ⤵
“Jebb, you have good experience. But your answers difficult to follow.”
My ego took a hit.
But those words gave me something most candidates never get:
Feedback!
Today, feedback is rare.
HR policies. Busy managers.
Most candidates leave interviews guessing what went wrong.
Looking back, that moment changed my career.
If you’re trying to break into medical sales, remember this:
The goal isn’t to say more.
✦ The goal is to be remembered.
If this shifts how you see Med Rep interviews, save this post before your next one.
And if you know someone trying to get in, share it with them.
I’m curious…
➨ What’s the most honest feedback you’ve ever received after an interview?
