How to get medical sales interviews

The fastest way to tank a Pharmaceutical Sales interview?

No, it’s not wearing the wrong suit.

It’s not forgetting to bring your resume.

I’ve been on both sides of the hiring table…

A nervous candidate and decision-making manager.

And I can tell you… it’s doing one of these three mistakes:

🚫 #1: Showing up late.

You might think, “It’s only 5 minutes.”

The manager is thinking, “If they can’t be on time for this, how will they be on time for a physician appointment?”

Be early. Sit in your car. Walk in ready, not rushed and apologizing.

🚫 #2: No follow-up

You walk out thinking, “I crushed it.”

Then you do… nothing.

No thank-you email. No quick note.

A 5-sentence thank-you within 24 hours can keep you in the running.

🚫 #3: “Forgetting” to close for the job.

I’ve lost count of how many times this has happened.

It’s a SALES job.

If you can’t look me in the eye and say,

“I want this job. Here’s why I’m the right person, will you offer me the job today?”

…how will you convince a doctor to choose your product?

I know interviews are stressful.

The nerves, the overthinking, the self-doubt. (it can all get in the way.)

These mistakes can overshadow all the good stuff you bring to the table.

If you were the hiring manager, what’s the one thing a candidate could do that would instantly make you say ‘Nope!’?
