How does a physical therapist enter medical sales

A physical therapist asked me ⤵
“How do I enter medical sales?”
She had the doctorate.
Years of patient care.
Understood anatomy, biomechanics, and post-op protocols.
But she wasn’t getting interviews.
And when she did… she stalled at round two.
A benefit of hiring a PT is their clinical skillset.
But the ability to drive revenue gets you hired.
That shift is uncomfortable.
As a PT, you’re trained to:
➤ Improve outcomes
➤ Educate patients
➤ Collaborate with providers
In device sales, you’re evaluated on:
★ Territory growth
★ Objection handling
★ Closing
It’s a different operating system.
And when they get rejected, they think:
“Maybe I’m not cut out for sales.”
That’s rarely true.
The real gap is strategy.
If you’re a physical therapist trying to make this move, ask yourself ⤵
1. Can I clearly connect my clinical experience to measurable business impact?
2. Do I understand the sales process or am I only comfortable in the education phase?
Education alone is not selling.
I’m cheering for you.
