What gets you hired in pharmaceutical sales

“Network more.”
The second worst piece of advice for candidates wanting to transition into pharmaceutical sales.
I see it on LinkedIn, Google, and TikTok.
Networking does not get you the job.
It gets you a conversation.
An introduction.
A new connection.
35% of job seekers avoid networking altogether because of low confidence. (Indeed)
I’ve watched candidates get a warm intro straight to the hiring manager, then lose the opportunity in the first 5 minutes.
They had access.
They didn’t have preparation.
A connection opens the door.
It doesn’t explain your value or prove you understand the job.
What gets you hired in Pharma Sales:
➟ Knowing the role.
➟ Explaining your skills.
➟ Sharing outcomes, not duties.
➟ Following up like you already work there.
Networking creates the opportunity.
Preparation positions you.
Execution is what wins the offer.
So tell me ⤵
Is sending your resume to a stranger “networking?”
