A day in the life of a medical sales rep

This one thing moves the needle in medical sales.
For years I thought getting better at sales meant doing more of the obvious stuff.
More calls.
Better targeting.
Sharper questions.
Tighter product demos.
I was wrong.
Your career can only grow as far as your self-awareness lets it.
★ What do I want?
★ What energizes me?
★ Do my actions align with my long-term goals?
★ Am I building a career or surviving a commission cycle?
Those questions gave me direction.
Then came the hard part: acting on the answers.
Reading provided insights.
The gym taught me discipline.
Journaling turned scattered thoughts into a plan.
The deeper I understood myself, the better I understood everyone else.
Self-awareness is the shortcut to empathy, influence, and connection.
That’s the interesting part about medical sales.
It’s not really about products. It’s about people.
You can’t influence a room until you’ve influenced yourself.
Self-awareness is a muscle.

You build it the same way you build anything: reps, honesty, and the willingness to be uncomfortable long enough to grow.
What energizes you during the day?
